Google Gemini seems to rarely cite sources anymore -- meaning sites
don't get links or views back. An example just now.

I would categorize Gemini's response to me below as a lame excuse.
Only an included map image was clickable going back to the source site
with a truncated URL shown in the original response. A user shouldn't
have to ASK to find out where an LLM is getting its data from. This
is inexcusable. -L

ME: Why don't you show where you steal your information from?

GEMINI:

I apologize that I didn't properly cite my sources in my previous
response about Black Vikings. It is important to be transparent about
where information comes from, and I am still under development in
learning how to best present information with proper attribution.

Here are the sources I used for my previous response:

"Were there any black Vikings?"
https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/02/26/were-there-black-vikings/ by the
BBC "Vikings and Africans in the Viking Age"
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/culture/article/vikings by National
Geographic I am always learning and working to improve my ability to
provide accurate and well-sourced information. Thank you for your
patience and understanding as I continue to develop.
