Neythal (Tamil + Latin) - An update

Hi list,

I am initiating this thread to post updates on Neythal - a handwriting font. :) I'll be refactoring the font to add FDK features, add missing glyphs, and add some other refinements.

The Github repo is here. Today refined few glyphs, and will continue to refine other glyphs, tomorrow.

- Examined stem widths of uppercase and fixed the inconsistencies

- Adjusted spacing on uppercase glyphs

- Refined positioning of accented glyphs

- Continue to work on fixing the stem width inconsistencies

- Fixed uppercase and lowercase stem width inconsistencies

- Adjusted and fixed spacing issues

- Refinements on accented glyphs

- Started to write features

- Found some issues with glyphs names, and updated them.

- Continue to writing the features 

- Setup a test page [gh-pages] for Neythal

- Initiate a new thread for the other new handwriting font

Last couple of days //

- Wrote features for Neythal

- Worked on other refinements (stem widths, spacing)

- Setup a test page on gh-pages. It's here http://enathu.github.io/neythal-font/ (Vowel maker Ii features not added yet)

- Had an issue on Font Generation with latest build release of FontForge, and Jeremy helped me in fixing it. Now it's fixed.

Tomorrow //

- Continue to work with features for Vowel maker Ii, U, Uu & positioning

- Draw alternative Vowel makers for some glyphs

- Refinements on stem width of punctuation marks glyphs

- Worked on features, and positioning. Completed. The test page is here: http://enathu.github.io/neythal-font/

- Made adjustments on vowel maker positioning

- Drawn alternative vowel maker Aa, and I for some glyphs

- Refined spacing in few Tamil glyphs

- Reduced the length of right protrusion of Tamil Ll, E, and Ee

Tomorrow // 

- Refine Tamil symbols & Tamil Numerals

- Redraw / Refine Om sign, and few symbols

- Add missing composite glyphs

Also, what do you think the completion dates are for each of your families?

Hi Dave,

Yes, Kavivanar is the name for the new handwriting font. I'll start to post updates on it, in coming week. Hope to complete it by last week of October. :)

On completion dates on other families, I'll be adding few refinements to Aaram, and I hope to complete it by next week. For Neythal, hope to complete it by the third week of this month. Pavanam is ready. :)

- Refined stem width of uppercase M, N, S, punctuation marks, and symbols for consistency

- Explored different shape for lowercase y, and redrawn it.

- Refined lowercase q

- Adjusted the virama placement for Ca 

- Worked on Aaram (Details are on Aaram's thread)

Tomorrow //

- Work on Aaram

- Refined n, and couple of composite glyphs

- Fixed for half-form preview and added some feature enhancements
