What is the best way to go about nominating a font for inclusion into the Google Fonts collection?
Specifically, I would like to recommend "Metropolis" by Chris Simpson:
Points of note:
• Metropolis is polished and stable.
• Metropolis is released under the Open Font License version 2.0.
• Metropolis has multiple weights:
Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Extra Bold, and Black
• Metropolis has italic forms for each of the weights available.
• Metropolis has very good glyph coverage: 313 glyphs.
(Available in all weights and italic styles of those weights.)
I recommend Metropolis for inclusion into the Google Fonts collection because, presently, I personally find there is no geometric sans serif of this aesthetic available in the collection that also has both a bold weight and italic styles available. As-is, there are a few geometric sans serif typefaces in the Google Fonts collection that sort of satisfy this aesthetic, but they may only have a single weight and/or no italic form available, which is undesirable and not incredibly useful. Metropolis satisfies the clean look a modern geometric sans serif (something akin to Gotham in the feeling of the glyph form) —and— provides the weights and italic forms necessary for actual real-world usage.
Thanks,
Brian
