Hi all,
For several years now, my friend Ross Mills of Tiro Typeworks has been
working on a new typeface: STIX Two. It’s an opensource font family
commissioned by the STIX consortium, and it comes as five fonts: a
four-style STIX Two Text, and one STIX Two Math font for OpenType
mathematical typesetting (Word, TeX). The new design is fantastic — it
can be described as “the better Times New Roman”. It’s somewhat
similar to Times but its lower contrast, enlarged x-height and less
inclined italic all contribute to superb(!) readability.
The STIX Two fonts (Text and Math, version 2.0) can be downloaded free
of charge from:

I’ve created a Facebook album which showcases STIX Two:

The STIX Two Text fonts (Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic) have a
glyph set of 2,200 each, covering most Latin, basic Cyrillic and Greek,
with small caps and extra numeral styles. The STIX Two Math font has a
glyph set of 5,240, and comes with all glyphs needed for mathematical
typesetting. The STIX Two fonts are released under the OFL.
It’s a beautiful release, and they should be added to Google Fonts.
They are superb body text fonts.
Best,
Adam
