to Google Talk Discussion & Troubleshooting
We use openfire from jivesoftware for our internal XMPP jabber server
(XMPP server) and watch it from time to time to ensure that it is
setting up sessions with both clients & servers over SSL or TLS. This
works fine. We use a digital certificate from caCert. We notice it
setting up sessions with other servers when ever one of our users is
chatting with another XMPP client when they are in turn connected to
their XMPP server, and our two servers bridge that chat over the
internet, all is well, all is fine, all is expected. But, whenever one
of our users is chatting with another user who is using their gtalk
account as their jabber account, we see a session (bidirectional, one
in and one out) from our server to the google talk server but there is
no SSL nor TLS. Why not? Do we need to do something specific for gtalk
to setup the connection using SSL? Does it not like cert's from
caCert? Does it not do it at all? If not, why not? It ought to. I have
a screenshot of those but can not attach that to this thread
(unfortunately) for all to see. Thanks very much every one for your
information. Thanks, Sjobeck
