Google.* Hierarchy Broken

The official google.* newsgroup hierarchy has been broken for about a
month now. The official Google web newsgroups are meant to be accessed
with a web browser using Google Groups, but you should still be able post
messages to the official Google web newsgroups by cross-posting your
message using a Usenet newsreader to a normal public newsgroup that is
propagated to other newsservers:

That's not all that's broken.
Any sort of wildcard search on specific groups is messed up. For example, "microsoft.*" no longer works. I have tried *microsoft* and that seems a little better. Overall I am very unhappy with what they have done with the group search form and results pages.
