Gmail via the personalized page -- how do I delete a message?

Hi

Forgive me if I am being an idiot. If I go to my Google personalized
homepage and access a piece of Gmail by clicking on the item, then a
window pops up that contains the email. However, I cannot delete the
email via this window, as far as I can tell. I have to go to my inbox.

Am I missing something? I don't see anything in the pull-down menu that
says delete....
