Google Web Toolkit for Web and Mobile development

I came across the information that if you want to develop the site
that would serve smart device users, you need to develop site
specifically for mobile users. Does anyone care to share if it is
possible to develop a site that would serve desktop and mobile devices
using the GWT?

Have a look at http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/sessions/using-gwt-and-eclipse-to-build-great-mobile-web-apps.html and the "mobilewebapp" sample from the GWT SDK (which I believe is more or less the "Cloud Tasks" example from the presentation)
