Hi,
The amount of time gwtcompile takes to generate the javascript code is
really huge.
We have different versions of the *.cache.html & *.cache.js.. for
different browsers..I suppose.
Is there a way out if we can limit GwtCompile to generate javascript
only for specific browsers..say IE & Firefox..?

Yes, just try searching on this forum there are many posts; for
example

Also in the forthcoming GWT 1.5 the concept of a linker is introduced,
so (if the design stays the same as now) you would be able to restrict
the output to just *.cache.html if you wanted if you don't need the
cross-site capable *.cache.js
