Hello, everybody!

I start my experience with GWT and have a problem at the beginning.

I tried to setup new project in different IDE's: Eclipse, IDEA,
NetBeans, but I failed in all cases.

When I start my project and open browser (any browser) I get the
following error:

"Plugin failed to connect to hosted mode server at 127.0.0.1:9997"

If I do the same on work computer - everything is fine.

I have Windows 7 at home and Windows XP at work.

Also I have a lot of ethernet interfaces on my home laptop: VMWare
Workstation generate it.

Can you suggest me something?

If you wish to run your application in debug mode then only you need to have that extra parameter in your URL e.g.

http://localhost:8888/demoapp?gwt=127.1.0.1....somthing like this but you want to run application just start the server

and enter the url as http://localhost:8888/ or your application home directory.
Do not include parameter.

one more thing i would like to suggest that try to use if possible Eclipse Galileo it is recommended and good to use as most of the developers prefers eclipse.

Anyway try your luck....!

Cheers,

Hi,

you cannot have failed in all cases.
Otherwise you never had have a chance to install the browser plugin!

The simpliest case is, did you start your app at all in your ide
(development mode)?
Just running eclipse and refresh the browser is too less

Hi Zeroed,

some things to check,

1) When you get the error on your browser are there any errors logged
in the IDE. (in Eclipse the "development Mode" windows and "Console"
window shows any error encountered.)

2) Are you having the correct java version. check below link for the
system req for GWT.
http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/doc/1.6/FAQ_GettingStarted.html#Installation_and_Upgrades

3) Are you having any firewalls in your machine. they might be
blocking your request.
Try temporarily disabling your firewall and running your project.

Best of luck...

Ok,

I tried different IDEs, I tried to do everything manually using
webAppCreator.cmd and ant devmode than.

Nothing changing.

I deleted vmware.

I tried different browsers.

No firewall.

Switched off antivirus.

Still nothing.

I'm yet to see a failure without single error-message in the DevMode log,as I~N~S~I noted.
Could you paste what's in there? It isn't empty, is it?

Ok, guys, I have found the problem.

It was teamviewer application occupying the port.

Switched it off and everything works fine now.

Thanks for you help!
