am basically Microsoft .Net Developer with 5 years of experience. I
was impressed with the new release of Sun Java Studio by Sun and
Google Web Toolkit by Google.
I want to develop a commercial Global Web Application. Before i make
my decision, I would like to know :
1. Can i use GWT (google web toolkit) in Sun Studio. any link, help
support, samples...? I want to Integrate GWT to the best of possible,
as it largely supports AJAX, which i am keenly interested. In general
site shall replicate GMail style.
3. I know GWT comes with SDK Eclipse. But, i dont know if i use
Eclipse, i can buy support package...
Please answer to the best you can. This will assist me in taking a
strong step towards Java Technology.
never tried it myself though, personally I use just eclipse + gwt and
I feel it's ok
i have gone through this link, downloaded and played around. But, this
is in Eclipse not in Visual Sun Java Studio
http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/index.jsp
basically, i personally like Sun Java Studio Creator than Eclipse,
since it give me similar environment to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
Also, i want to buy Support Package (http://developers.sun.com/
services/expertassistance/index.jsp) to avoid wasting time in Java
fundamental concepts since i have vb.net background. Java Studio
provides some advance tools similar to MS Visual Studio, which Eclipse
doesnt provide on the other hand.
Breaking my head, how to use Google web tools in Sun Java Studio.
i have posted this topic even in sun.com forum, but didnt get any
solid answer.

only option i found till now, is to integrate GWT in Netbeans, which
is old version of Sun Java Studio

please guys, help me in providing any links, articlues or tips.......
thankyou in advance
no 2. was basically i wanted to know if there is any technical support
package for Eclipse which i can purchase like Sun Java Studio. This is
the first time in my lifetime, i dared to implement my Commertial Web
Application in Java which i have advance skills in VB.Net because of
long term benifits.
Eclipse offers a complete integration with GWT in terms of the project
generation scripts, development environment and debugging out of the
box.
Since Sun Java Studio is 'built on NetBeans' I assume you can use it
with GWT. Have you checked this?
Since the NetBeans support for GWT was added in retrospect I would be
surprised if any Sun engineer you speak to (should you require
technical support for their product) will be able to speak
knowledgably about GWT and Sun Java Studio. I would find out more
before parting with your money.
If you intend to use GWT then it's a good bet you will find yourself
hanging around here quite a lot. There are people here who use both
but I _suspect_ that you will have more luck with IDE-type questions
coming from the perspecitive of an Eclipse user.
I would bite the bullet and create a few noddy applications with GWT/
Eclipse to get a feel for it before you embark on a major project.

hope it helps...
after 1 week of research on GWT, i found below links quiet handy for
commercial web apps developers....
1. http://www.instantiations.com/gwtdesigner/ > for
designing
2. http://www.examples.roughian.com/#Art_SK02 > very good for
beginners
4.

5. http://auctionmonitor.icefaces.org/auctionMonitor/ > a beautiful
FREE AJAX Grid which might come handy for Commercial web apps along
with GWT. it can be integrated in Eclipse too.

bees, who want to use GWT as front end and Java on the server side. am
sure it will help us a lot.

Now, i think am confident to kick start my first GWT commertial
project (estimating project will take 3-4 months to complete). Nothing
stopping me. I will use Eclipse, GWT, GWTDesigner & Derby DB. God
willing, come up with the project sitting in my dream.

I dont think there is any samples, articles, forums etc... discussed
on Sun Java Studio with GWT....better to follow other devs....sticking
to Eclipse & GWT sounds good as of this stage.............
