Layout advice needed

As John described in his wiki for gen2 ScrollTable layout problems may
appear when setting the ScrollTable width to 100% instead of fixed
pixels.
The same problem seems to occur in different scenarios like good old
StackPanel problems in Firefox etc.
As I'd like to be able for example to nest a ScrollTable into a
HorizontalSplitPanel it is needed to set the px value ofter moving the
splitter.
It would be very helpful resizable widget containers would support
some kind of resize-handler or protected onResize() to override.
Any hints how to deal with this? The problems not only affect
ScrollTable, but also MapWidget (checkResize() needs to be called
after nesting container gets resized etc.) and others.

A ResizeHandler is included in the gwt 1.6 events branch.
