Chart's Built-in Exponential Trendline functionality

Please provide the details of the algorithm used for your Charts' built-in Exponential trend line functionality: it is evidently not simply linear regression on (x, log y)--the "elementary" way to do this--b/c yours results in a better fit; however, without public documentation of the algorithm you use, the results it gives are professionally useless, as no one can peer-review results using it; basically, without public documentation of the algorithm used, it is a "toy" feature, definitely not worthy of Google, even provided free of charge.
