Are you using GWT?  If so, I am surprised that ie10 has this problem.

Yes I use GWT.
The exact message is
Cannot mutate object to PieChart: Cannot mutate object to PieChart

It comes in IE11 also.

The GWT PieChart issue in IE is caused by our attempted workaround for another problem, but it turns out to be inadequate for IE9, 10, and perhaps even 11.

In case you are interested, this other problem we are trying to workaround is that we need to get the GWT library updated to match the current Google Charts code, and furthermore, we need to get everyone who uses the GWT API to download the new library, and then rebuild their code to use it.   That will take some time, so we were trying to shortcut the process with this transitional workaround.

I have an idea for another way we can deal with transition, so I expect we will rollback the current v40 release and try again next week.

Do you have a time frame for rolling back to the previous version? We are also experiencing this problem in production and I'd like to update our customers.

Thanks.

At this point, we are going to try to patch the release rather than rolling back and pushing out another version (which would take longer and therefore could provoke more spurious errors during the updates).  The only issue this patch will address is the GWT PieChart problem for IE.  This should commence around noon, if all goes well.

Thanks Daniel for the response. I appreciate your help.

Can you let me the status on the patch update? I would like to notify my production customers with the status.

I will post again to this list when we are done.  We are rolling back, after all, since there was not enough time to push through a patch.

The rollback is completed.  We'll try pushing out v40 again with a new patch early next week.

Hi All,

I am facing the same issue on chrome and firefox also for PIE chart only

Here is the exception that I got

com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.AttachDetachException: Exception caught:
Exception caught: (ReferenceError) @com.google.gwt.visualization.client.visualizations.Visualization::
draw(Lcom/google/gwt/visualization/client/AbstractDataTable;Lcom/google/gwt/visualization/client/AbstractDrawOptions;)([JavaScript object(11005),
JavaScript object(1606)]): hX is not defined

I used gwt-visualization1.1.2

Hi George,

Sorry to hear about this problem now.  We released v40 with a patch that appears to work for other uses of PieChart via GWT (as far as I know), so there appears to be something different about your usage. Can you point us to a page that shows this problem so we can debug it?

If you are seeing a problem in Chrome also, this is probably not the same problem we worked around.  Is it a new problem coinciding with the recent release?

We hope to release a new version of the gwt-visualization package at some point with up-to-date bindings that should also fix the GWT PieChart without our internal workarounds, but release of that new version is delayed.

Hey guys,

Any update on this? I'm also getting the 'hx is not defined' error for pie chart in chrome.

Ali, this thread has been about GWT related issues.  Are you using GWT? Can you give us a link to the page where you are seeing this problem? Thanks.

I am using GWT, yes. When I use the production version (1.0), I get that 'hX' error. However, switching to 1.1 fixes this issue.

This is in development right now, so I don't have a link for you, but I can paste the code if you'd like.

Since switching to 1.1 fixes the issue, then you are in luck since that will become 1.0 in a week or so.  Whatever the problem was, we have taken care of.

Awesome. On a related note, is the gwt port still being maintained? Can I count on it to keep working? I've noticed that the current download version is 1.1.2 but the maven is still on 1.0.8

The GWT port is still being maintained, but we are having issues getting the library updated.

What kind of issues?

Daniel LaLiberte

Basically we can't do the update without some other things being updated as well, so we'll have to wait.

Are you talking about the maven update?

I'm talking about gwt-visualization that you download from this list: https://code.google.com/p/gwt-google-apis/downloads/list which is the only place we would update at this time. Perhaps you are using something that was built from that by someone else.

Ali Akhtar

I'm using the same library, i.e: https://code.google.com/p/gwt-google-apis/wiki/VisualizationGettingStarted ( gwt-visualization-1.1.2.zip )

What isn't up to date there? I haven't noticed any problems so far when using the 1.1 release candidate..

The only thing that i've noticed, is that the download page gives the version 1.1.2, but on maven, its still on 1.0.8 , therefore I had to download the zip and manually install the 1.1.2 jar to maven.

Daniel LaLiberte

Actually, version 1.1.2 is old, and needs to be updated.  The issues discussed in this thread involve the inconsistency with that library and the client-side google charts code that is loaded when gwt-visualization is used.  The maven library (aka maven central?) is, apparently, something that someone put up in 2009, not even sure it was us (or an earlier team).  We will look into updating that.

I see. I haven't come across any inconsistencies so far. Can you tell me which parts are inconsistent, so I can avoid them (or possibly send a patch)?

Daniel LaLiberte

We managed to work around the inconsistencies on the javascript side, so you shouldn't see them.
