Geo map by time

I would like to use a geo map gadget over time, so that you can see different values of one item (for example GDP per capita for each country of the world) by different colors and furthermore animate this map over time, so that clicking the "play" button results in the visualisation of the given values for each country at .g. 1995, than 1996, and so on..

Is this possible with google docs gadget?

Do you require this in a gadget form, or can you use custom javascript?  There aren't any pre-built gadgets (at least that I am aware of) that will do this for you.  You can, however, do something like this with custom coding.

well, I´m not familiar with javascript programming, so gadget form would be easier, but I won`t hesitate to use custom coding, if it´s not too difficult to learn. Can you recommend where to find useful, short, practical information how to add a time dimension to the already existing coding of geomap?
