I'm working on a requirement where i have to plot Infants weight for age chart. This is how the graph looks  overall: http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/data/set1clinical/cj41l017.pdf

Following is the data that can be used to generate the lines: http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/html_charts/wtageinf.htm
The first column indicates age in months and the next columns are percentiles.

I'm done plotting these lines on a Line chart.

Next for each visit physician will record the vitals for example weight of the baby. We can assume that patient starts visiting doctor at the age of 6 or 7 months so we don't have data points for age below 7 months. Also we wont have precise weight for the each age column in data table since the patient will be visiting randomly.

What are the recommendations to plot these points. Should i use some other chart instead of Line chart.

Please guide. Thanks.

Hi Hannon,

Given the uncertainty or imprecision of the data, maybe you should use a scatter chart with a trendline.  The differences may average out over several samples so that the trendline will give a more accurate picture.
