Prior to the RC update on February 27th, our charts were rendering like this:

Notice how the annotation text color changes to match the color of the bar, except when the annotation would overlay the bar, in which case it inverts automatically.  We did not write any custom code for this.  I believe this is how annotations on other chart types still work even after the February 27th RC update.

However, for bar and column charts *after* the update, the text colors no longer change to match the bar.  The text now remains the default (horrid) blue:

Was this change intentional?  If not, any chance it'll be fixed before V38 becomes final?

Hi, you found a bug in our RC. We will fix this as soon as we possibly can. Most likely today. In the meantime, you can use version 1.0 as a workaround.

This bug still seems to be in V1.1.  Is it still on track to get fixed before V38 becomes final?

This looks fixed to me in 1.1. Here is a jsfiddle demonstrating it: http://jsfiddle.net/RbjZH/

It doesn't look fixed to me.  Here's a screenshot from the docs (https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/barchart#Labels):

Notice the blue text with white padding.  That's not how it looked previously...

You are correct, that's not how it looked previously. It shows up correctly for me:

We've been having some issues with the consistency of our releases recently, so it might take a few days to for it to propagate to the servers that you are hitting. I just did a refresh of some of them, so hopefully you'll see the changes soon.
