Hi, unfortunately we do not currently map Antarctica for the GeoChart. May I ask why you need it?

Of course, Sergey. I included a "visited countries map" in my website (http://goo.gl/DoYO8) and I've been to Antarctica. Talking about a continent not shown on the map is rather confusing...

I also wished there was a version of the 'world' map with Antarctica included. Already created a api issue entry.
Although I understand that for statistic purposes it might be almost irrelevant, it's still a full continent. It would extend the use of geocharts further.
The geocharts can also easely be used for infographic purposes and often there might be information presented where Antarctica should be present.
Cheers

The irrelevance is always subjective: 'world' means 'world' and Antarctica is part of it; none should ignore a whole continent

I have a travel website were I am using the world map. The "world" is not complete without Antarctica. It is an entire continent missing. Please take in consideration our request and add Antarctica's map.

Thanks,
Cristian

Hi Sergey,
Thank you for looking into this.  I work for the Study Abroad office at the University at Albany, and we recently created an interactive map using Google's GeoChart (with Carlos Moreira's help).  We have a study abroad program in Antarctica for students interested in Biology research, and the fact that the continent is currently not recognized by the GeoChart ended up being problematic for us.  In the end, we ended up having to overlay an image of Antarctica on top of the GeoChart so that we could show students that we have a program in Antartica, instead of the alternative (which was to put a random marker near where Antarctica would be).  See our page here for more details:  http://www.albany.edu/studyabroad/map.shtml#program.

We could have saved a lot of time just having the continent being recognized from the beginning, and we'd still prefer to have this option in the future instead of a picture overlay.  Fingers crossed that the Google team can take care of this at some point.

Hello! Any news? Totally agree about the idea of adding Antarctica. The world is not complete and this fact does not allow to use maps based on that to be used as world map. Plus to that in the continent devision it should be splitted to North America and South America as those are obviously different continents. Will it be fixed? Thank you.

North America and South America are already different continents. As outlined here, you can refer to North America as '021', South America as '005', or "All the Americas" as '019'. There have been a few complications with adding Antarctica. We'll keep trying to resolve them, but I still don't have an estimate of when this will be done. You can star the bug here.

Hi Sergey,

We are getting more and more requests to use the Antarctica API. Not only for research but for general information gathering and display. Please could you see what you can do regarding this.

Many thanks,
Jacques

Hi guys,
I'm currently looking at integrating this api into a non-profit organisation where one of our heavy focus points is to actually bring tourism to some lesser known locations. Antarctica is one of the largest focus regions for our future offering.
Not having the ability to show Antarctica is really a shame as it is an enormous continent and there is most definitely huge interest on this part of the world.
Would be great if you guys can add this in and looking forward to getting some updates soon.
Cheers
