I've been following the docs for updating the styling of my map visualization using the below link.

https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/map#styling-maps

Despite the correct styling map options appearing in my map, I noticed the styling never changed.

I then noticed, that this is actually the case in the interactive example found on the page.

If you scroll to the option with three options (see below), clicking on each tab has no effect to the styling.

Is this a bug in a recent release?

Hi Jonjoe,

Thanks for reporting this.  I can't tell yet whether the problem (which I also see) is due to a bug in the map chart (regarding how it communicates with the map service) or in how the page is configured.   To find out whether this is due to the recent update of 'current' to '49', you can try a prior version, e.g. '48'.

It's worse if you go to the jsfiddle for the chart, but that might be a different problem - look in the browser's debugger and you'll probably see:

?editor_console=true:72 Google Maps JavaScript API error: RefererNotAllowedMapError
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#referer-not-allowed-map-error
Your site URL to be authorized: https://fiddle.jshell.net/_display/?editor_console=true

Earlier versions don't help with the jsfiddle of the map chart.

Thanks!

From playing around, I think the last remaining version that worked was actually 45.
