Hi,

I recently got this email and wondered if these problem is known:

Hi, I have recently used chartle.net to create graphs to embed in my non-profit's website.  They are located on this page:

I am on an HP Envy laptop, and can see the graphs when I use Chrome or Firefox, but not Internet Explorer 9.  (Specifically, it's version 9.0.8112.16421.)  Is there something I should be doing differently?

Cheers,
Dieter

Ok, let me see if I've got this straight: you are creating your own chart service based upon the Google Visualization API, and one of your clients is having a problem in IE 9?  I'm fairly certain that sublicensing or selling access to the API constitutes a violation of the Terms of Service (see TOS, section 4, item 1; and section 5, prohibitions on content, item 2).  I'm no lawyer though, so I could be wrong there.

Leaving that aside, the IE9 problem appears to be a security issue.  The website uses https but accesses your API through http, which throws a security warning in most browsers, but IE 9 blocks the content completely.

I am not violating any Google TOS...and Google knows about my service.

Leaving that aside, my service doesn't use its own API but simply generates the standard Google Visualization javascript which people can embed in their website.
The only solution is to tell them not to use https?

You would have to open access to your service over https and tell your clients to use that instead of http.  You would also need to make sure you are loading the visualization API over https.
