Hi Folks,

First off, I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum so feel free to redirect me....

This has to do with my son's gmail account, the password of which we are unable to recover. He is 12.

He uses an iPad, and never uses Google, but set up a gmail account to create an Apple ID. That was in 2011, when he was 8.

Now his little brother has the iPad, and my eldest has a new one, and the iPads share the Apple ID.

We've started homeschooling recently, and some of our best resources are apps, to which we must subscribe to access their content.

The problem is, when subscribing, some resources will send a confirmation link to the email address linked with the Apple ID. Thus, not knowing his password keeps us from activating some of these apps.

Google can't find him through the standard account recovery process. When he got his iPad, he used it only for downloading free apps from the app store. He never used his gmail account. He set it up to make an Apple ID and that was it. So he can't answer the questions on the recovery form - he can't remember the date he set up his account, the date he last used it, at eight years old he never emailed anyone so he can't list any contacts, and he uses no other Google products and services. Therefore he's been told Google doesn't have enough info to identify him.

However, if we set up a new Apple ID, he (and his brother), because of Apple's policy, will lose all his paid apps! As I paid for those apps, and don't really have the money to replace them, I have a definite interest in recovering his account, as these have to do with their schooling.

I appreciate any advice you may have.

Thank you.
