I am looking into implementing the Google Translate API for an application with a website front end.

The content of this application is in different languages (but only 1 at a time) and the User Interface has been hand-translated into multiple languages (currently 6).

I would like to expand the Multilingual options so that users can view the application and it's User Interface in all of the supported languages of the Google Translate API.

As it is possible that the UI and the Content could be in different languages, I am trying to work out the best and simplest way of providing this translation.

As long as I show all of the required attributions to Google Translate, may I send the strings of the UI via the Google Translate API (with a valid API Key), pay for the translation and then store this data on my server to be reused every time the site is visited?

In short:

Once I have translated something and paid for the translations, can I store and use these as I please, or must I request the live translation every time the website is visited?

I see the line in the Terms of Service: "You may not access the Translate API in a manner intended to avoid incurring fees." however I am not avoiding fees, as I do intend and will need to pay for these translations once, but would like to reuse the strings if possible.

If this was a standalone (desktop) application, then I foresee this must be the way it is used, but not sure about a web application.

I've trawled through the Terms and Conditions but cannot find the answer to this specific question.

Kind regards

Adrian
