Google API with SharePoint Intranet

Hi Team,

We want to use Google translation services in our SharePoint intranet sites. We have few queries regarding the security aspects of data posted to Google like:

1) Data posted using API service would be cached on Google cloud?
2) If yes, how long the data would be retained in Google cache?
3) Once after translation, what would happen to posted data? will that be deleted? if yes, how long will it retain?
4) How Google provides the security on the data posted to API service?
5) Please let us know the contact details/email adress to reach Google translation API security team.

Hi Sandeep,

While I'm not a lawyer or member of the Translate team, I can advise you to look into the following resources to learn more about the security implications of using Google Translate:

• Google Privacy Policy
• Translate API FAQ section on Data Confidentiality
• Translate API Terms of Service

So it seems that you shouldn't need to worry about your data being viewed by anybody or used in any malicious manner.

As far as I know, there is no Translate API -specific security team (although I could just not know about it), although you can read more about Cloud Platform Security here and here. 

I hope these resources help put you at ease with regard to the confidentiality of your data when using the Translate API.
