Regarding the attributions, when post-editing, attribution does not need to be displayed. As far as I understand, post-editing as referred in the FAQ page to Wikipedia, is a review process perform a human to go through the machine translations. The process does not guarantee any modification of the machine translations, but it is still a review/post-editing process.

If after the review process, the machine translations remains as it is, are we required to display the attributions?

If the unmodified MT translations are being used in a software/application (e.g. message_es.properties), is appending the attribution in the generated file sufficient? Or we are required to display the attribution in the software/application too?

You can refer to the Attribution Requirements guide for further clarifications. Specifically:

  • "Whenever you display translation results from Google Translate directly to users, you must make it clear to users that they are viewing automatic translations from Google Translate using the appropriate text or brand elements."
  • "Applications using the Google Cloud Translation API must state in the application description and help documentation that Google Translate is used to power translation within the application and provide links to to the Google Translate site."

- For all further attribution and legal concerns, it is recommended to contact the Sales team

Thank you for the clarification. After looking through the Attribution Requirements documentation, I found the more appropriate Cloud Translation API Attribution Request form to be used for all further Translation attribution questions, requests, and communications.
