Unfortunately I am still having troubles understanding the translator API costs. Maybe somebody could help clarify.
Google charges for every character that is translated, so far so good. The question I have is, does this apply to every new page request or is this translation a one time fee per character for one page request.
I assume it will be charged for every single page request, but somehow it is not clear to me and I need to make sure.

Hi Walter, 

Per the Cloud Translation Pricing documentation at [1], you'll be charged for all characters that you include in a Cloud Translation request even untranslated characters, which includes whitespace characters (Eg: if you translate <p>こんにちは</p> to English, it counts as 12 characters for the purposes of billing). In the meanwhile, please notice that the service also charges for empty queries. If you make a request without any content, Google charges one character for the request.

Hi Jun,

I have a similar question as Walter. I am trying to setup the Freetrial for cloud translation on our Salesforce Staging Org. I have given our credit card and set the account for our company. But I am not sure how to enable the related API. I do see Enable option on the cloud Translation API but I also see down there on pricing which is mentioned with list of API's and the charge is 45$ per hour. Pricing and activation for our testing purpose is not very clear and confusing. Do we have customer support where I can walk through my issues and questions and get a clear picture to be on the same page on pricing?
 
Use Case : EmailtoCase project in Salesforce Omni channel. We receive cases in different language which we want to use Detecting Language API and translate the Language and Google Cloud should stamp the language for us on the Case Language/Project Language field and we will trigger some code to route those cases based on that Language skill to the right agent.

Hi Geetha, 

I am sorry to see that the GCP console is displaying our pricing information in a very confusing layout. That per hour rate is intended to be specific to the AutoML Training Operations SKU but it is not displaying correctly. I will work on getting this fixed. In the meantime. you can see pricing correctly described in a couple of other locations:

Just another update on this, its a little trick in the change in the UI on the Console, the top sku is automatically highlighted and the highlight is a faint light blue, if you then drop down and select another SKU, the price to the right side will change to reflect that SKU. 

I am guessing you scrolled down right away (As I did) and thus missed that the SKU selection is highlighted and therefore something you can interact with, by selecting another sku on the left side of the view window. 

I've provided this feedback to the Console team to make it more visible.
