Midwest Google Apps for Education Summit

The Google Apps for Education Central K-12 User group (k12central.appsusersgroup.com) is hosting a 2 day summit on November 3rd and 4th. This two day event, lead by Google Certified Teacher, Google Apps for Education Certified Trainers, administrators, and members from the Google Apps team will focus on deploying, integrating and using Google Apps for Education to promote student learning and achievement.  This event will take place on November 3-4th at the Glacier Canyon Lodge at the Wilderness Territory in the Wisconsin Dells, WI.  Cost for the event is $250.  Registration and information can be found at the Midwest Google Summit Site: http://tinyurl.com/mwgs11

App Inventor Moves to MIT Center for Mobile Learning

Google RISE - open for applications in Europe 1 Sep-31 Oct 2011

Google RISE in Europe is now open for applications until 31 October 2011. Grants for activities in 2012 are available to organisations working to increase engagement, promote and support Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science education initiatives at the primary & secondary school level, with an emphasis on engaging under-represented groups. SketchUp Pro State Licenses

The Google SketchUp Pro Statewide License Grant has now been accepted by 30 US states, in addition to 3 Canadian provinces, 1 Australian state, 1 UK county, and the entire country of New Zealand. To see if your state is on the list, see our license grant site. If you’d like to have SketchUp Pro in your classroom, simply have your state’s director of technology apply.

Google Code-in Coming This Fall

Google Code-in is a worldwide contest designed to introduce 13-17 year old students to the world of open source development.  Students can complete a wide variety of tasks for participating open source organizations earning cool prizes along the way like t-shirts, prize money and the grand prize of an all expenses paid trip to Google's headquarters with a parent or guardian next summer.
