Since it appears that Google Tasks Porter is no longer
being supported, I have created Google Tasks Backup, an online
application that backs up your Google Tasks in one of 4 possible
formats;

- Download Outlook CSV file
- Download iCalendar file
- Display as web page
- Email as Remember The Milk (untested)

The application is at https://tasks-backup.appspot.com

Google Tasks Backup is based on a simplified version of the code used
for Google Tasks Porter. For example, GTB does not store snapshots,
and does not support importing.

It is still beta software, so if you have any issues, please log them
at http://code.google.com/p/tasks-backup/issues/list

I have created a Google group for Google Tasks Porter at
http://groups.google.com/group/tasks-backup

NOTE: I am not posting this to hijack anything; I am presenting it as
an alternative to try to help people who can no longer back up their
tasks using GTP.

Since GTP no longer works, I have been developing Google Tasks Back as
an alternative. I have just uploaded a new version of Google Tasks
Backup at https://tasks-backup.appspot.com

This new version fixes the timeout problem, and now offers 5 output
formats; Outlook CSV, iCal ICS, HTML Webpage, Raw CSV and Remember The
Milk email.

Please try Google Tasks Backup at https://tasks-backup.appspot.com and
join the Google Tasks Backup discussion at http://groups.google.com/group/tasks-backup

Cheers,

Julie

Nice Julie-
How do I import tasks into Gmail?
Ihave excel and csv versions I exported from Outlook. Or I can hit outlook directly too.
Thanks!

H
i Mark,

I created 2 apps - Google Tasks Backup (GTB) and Google Tasks Import (GTI) - which provide similar functionality to GTP.

Unfortunately the export format used by Microsoft Outlook is not compatible with GTI, for the reasons detailed at

I have created two alternatives to allow tasks to be exported from Outlook in a format that can be used by GTI;
  1. Export Outlook Tasks tool
  2. Custom [Export Tasks] button in Outlook
For details and instructions, refer to

Installation for either method is a little clunky, because I cannot afford to buy the full Professional versions of software, but either method will work quite well once installed.

If you have any issues with using either method, or with importing using GTI, please use the GTI forum at

or report an bugs, issues or suggestions for these tools (or for GTI) at

Kind regards,

Julie

Thanks, Julie.
I went to the page and see all the info there but I don't see how to use it. Where are the directions or the download buttons or anything that indicates how to use import and export. Sorry if I'm being a dummy, evidently, I can't help it.

JULIE, THANKS YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR WORK
It frees us Mac users stuck in the middle of the Apple/Google war since Apple stopped the sync services in  Mavericks.

Thanks for providing this service.  I have long been looking for something to import and export lists from Google tasks, and this does the trick perfectly.
