Since it appears that this project is no longer being developed, I've
been working on creating an alternative to at least allow exporting of
Google tasks.

I'll post more here when I have some success.

Very interested. But for the life of me I can't work out how to subscribe to this thread.

Hi Bard,

I think that you are automatically subscribed once you post or reply
to a thread.

Since it appears that Google Tasks Porter is no longer being
supported, I have created Google Tasks Backup, an online application
that backs up your Google Tasks in one of 4 possible formats;

- Download Outlook CSV file
- Download iCalendar file
- Display as web page
- Email as Remember The Milk (untested)

The application is at https://tasks-backup.appspot.com

Google Tasks Backup is based on a simplified version of the code used
for Google Tasks Porter. For example, GTB does not store snapshots,
and does not support importing.

It is still beta software, so if you have any issues, please log them
at http://code.google.com/p/tasks-backup/issues/list

I have created a Google group fro Google Tasks Porter at
http://groups.google.com/group/tasks-backup

Fantastic. Can't wait to try it.

Have you some plans for how to deal with your quota running out?

It seems to me that the Data Liberation Front would be more than happy to help you out with free quota if you contacted them.
We would all lend our voices to support you too.

Thanks!

Hi Bard,

Thanks for that suggestion. If it does get to using significant quota, I'll contact the Data Liberation Front.

For now, I'll see how it goes. The current app uses a LOT less resources than the original. For example, I would use over 50% of my datastore write quota retrieving less than 400 tasks. Now I'm not using the data store at all, and other quotas are only using fractions of 1 percent per retrieval.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it behaves when someone retrieves a lot of tasks at once.

Cheers,

Julie

Julie,

Thanks for the app. Any chance of a plain-text export?

Rich
