My bank branch [SBI]  doesn't have swift code to register with Payoneer  account.
Should I open a new bank account ?
I talked to some guy in my local bank and he said to give the swift number of another branch. But I am skeptical if this would cause problem . [since my account branch and swift-key of the branch would be different]

Same here.
From what I gather, every branch has a unique IFSC code, but SWIFT code is shared by many branches. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

This shouldn't cause any problems, many people don't have a swift code for their branches and in that case an alternative branch works just fine. For future reference, use the gsoc-india mailing list or irc channel to avoid cluttering the main channel.

Every bank has a Forex department. Rest people of the bank are may not know about Swift code(my experience). You might want to give it another try.

Forex department doesn't mean every branch can accept international wires, generally many or in some casesll branches share the same swift code
