GSoC 2026 - Mentoring Org Application Tips Talk on Jan 8th & Contributor Talk Dates

Welcome to 2026. We are excited to dive right into GSoC 2026 with all of you!

Next week we will host our GSoC Mentoring Org application talk to help new orgs (and new org admins) understand the application process for becoming GSoC mentoring orgs as well as what to expect during the program.

GSoC Mentoring Org application tips talk

We will host a GSoC 2026 Mentoring Organization Application Tips talk on Thursday, January 8 at 1700 UTC to help clear up questions folks might have as they get ready to apply to be mentoring organizations in GSoC 2026 from January 19 - February 3.

We will discuss creating a solid project ideas list and the importance of selecting the best mentors for your community.

If you are not able to attend the talk we will also be adding a link to the slide deck after the conclusion of the talk on this list so you can reference it.

This talk is not for potential GSoC Contributors. We will hold multiple sessions for potential GSoC Contributors throughout January and February to help folks prepare for the contributor application period that starts March 16 and ends March 31. 

GSoC Contributor Talks

We will host multiple GSoC talks over the next couple of months to help potential GSoC applicants understand what is required to be a successful GSoC contributor. Each talk will be basically the same so no need to attend multiple sessions. : )
