Hi everyone,

I’m Nikhil, a Computer Engineering undergraduate with experience in C, C++, Python, and web development. I have a keen interest in cybersecurity, reverse engineering, and system-level programming, and I’ve explored these areas through CTF challenges. Additionally, I enjoy working with Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) and competitive programming, though I’m still improving my skills in these areas.

Some of my past projects include:

  • Timetable Management System (Flask, MySQL, Jinja) – A scheduling tool that allows teachers to visually manage timetables.
  • Streamoo (MERN, FFmpeg, Docker, GitHub Actions) – A basic streaming platform with video processing and automation.

I’m new to open-source contributions and excited to apply for GSoC 2025. I’m particularly interested in contributing to OWASP, Linux Foundation, and Chromium, as I find their projects exciting and relevant to my skill set. I’d love to work on projects related to browser development, system optimizations, security tools, or other impactful areas where I can apply and expand my knowledge.

I would really appreciate guidance on:

  • How to explore and identify GSoC projects that would be a good fit for me.
  • Where to find beginner-friendly issues to start contributing.
  • How to connect with mentors and the community to learn more about ongoing projects.

I’m eager to contribute, learn, and grow through open-source. Any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to your insights!

Best,
Nikhil
