Hello all,

I recently heard about Summer of Code through a friend, but according to the official timeline it seems I've started looking pretty late. Is it ok if I start communicating with organizations now, 2 days after the proposal submissions have opened? Or is it too late to be reaching out to mentors

Best,
Daniel Xiao

Yes, you can reach out to organizations now, the earlier the better. Many people started reaching out to orgs a month ago when the orgs were announced but it is not too late if you start talking to them now.

Hey Daniel,

Even though it is recommended to start engaging early. You can still start engaging with the org mentors and learn about their projects now. Make sure you communicate well with them and find out how you can add value to the project. Better late than never :)

Good luck with your application!
