Hi,

I would like to apply to gsoc 2013. But I was wondering, being an international student, would that be fine to apply for CPT for other company and participate in gsoc as well.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Vinisha:

GSoC projects are designed to be a 40/hour a week, full time job. So you really shouldn't be doing other work while doing GSoC. The commitment level is high, and Google really don't want you to have another job obligation besides the GSoC project for the summer. I know as a GSoC admin, if I knew a student had a job besides GSoC, I wouldn't want to give them a slot where another student who doesn't have that commitment is available.

We strongly recommend against it. GSoC is a huge time commitment, and most students don't anticipate how difficult it will be. I would suggest you choose one or the other.

Cheers,
