I'm very interested in trying out Google Summer of Code for 2025. I am very interested in exploring tech and the open source community, but I am concerned because I graduated in 2020. The eligibility requirements say "students or open source beginner", so I am wondering if I can still apply to GSOC 2025?
A beginner in open source software includes people with minimal open source experience. You would still be considered a beginner if your experience only includes:
Personal or class projects, including boot camp projects.
Open source projects that are only used at a single institution. (example: a club website or research that happened to be published as open source at your old university)
Opening a small number (<10) of issues or pull requests against various open source packages.
Continued involvement in an open source project that you joined as part of GSoC.
If you are otherwise a regular contributor to an open source project, you're not a beginner.
Best,I am a 4th-year undergraduate, and I believe my college will be ending in June. Since GSoC 2025 hasn't been announced yet, the timeline might shift a bit, and by then, I may have already graduated. I’ve recently started contributing to an organization that participates in GSoC, having made 10 pull requests so far, with possibly more to come.
Am I eligible for GSoC 2025?

You do not have to be a student to be eligible for GSoC. You do need to be a beginner to open source software development if you are not a student.A beginner in open source software includes people with minimal open source experience. Hi GSoC Program Admins,
I’m interested in applying for GSoC 2025, and mentors have suggested selecting 2–4 organizations to focus on. If I contribute effectively to these organizations, my pull request count might increase to around 20. I started contributions at dec 2024 only.
Would that disqualify me as a "new contributor," or would I still be eligible for GSoC as long as I’m learning and exploring?
Thank you!
