Technically, you need to be a student to participate in GSoC. Are you a student?

Also, GSoC is supposed to be a full-time job, so it's not advised to do it in parallel with another job. Especially if you're just starting that job (consider the huge learning curve).

So, assuming you're a student, you may be eligible. But it probably isn't a good idea.

No. GSoC is for current students. It's in the FAQ, btw. You have to be a student by May 27 this year:
