Hello! I am Nelson, from Brazil. I am going to the second year of my graduation but I don't have 18 years yet... I read about Google Summer Code and I got very interested, I have studied Java for research objectives in my university, so I think I would be able to participate the next year if I work hard... Is it hard to go to Google Summer Code 2016? What level of programming do I have to have? Can I participate even if I am Brazilian? I will tell a little about me now, if you are not interested, you can send me a Smile face for me, just to make me happy :)

So... I study Molecular Sciences at University of São Paulo, but wait... It is not Biology (The name of the course is just related to the history of it's creation, long story)... Let me explain! This course focus on interdisciplinar research formation and I am one of the guys that are more interested in Maths, Physics, Computer Science... And one of my plans is to build my research life in US, in somewhere like Google... I know everyone wants it :) Hahaha So I found the perfect way to have fun in Summer... Sorry for the HUGE text...

It totally depends on the mentoring organization you are applying for.

- What level of programming do I have to have?

Depends on what you have planned to do during the program. Some projects requires a deeper understanding in a particular programming language, framework, etc....

- Can I participate even if I am Brazilian?

You are not eligible but it is because of your age. You have to be at least 18 years old.
