Hello,there !!
I'm Bhavna, a computer science engineering student in 2nd year of my college.
I am aiming for GSoC'19 but a little confused in choosing the organisation.
I can code for C and C++ .What should I do to select the best organisation ??
And what if my organisation doesn't get selected in the organisations list for GSoC'19

Hello

At this point I will select several organizations (working in my area of interest) and start communicating with the Mentors, to increase the chances of at least one of them is selected for next year's program.

Regards,

Vijay

Please carefully read the GSOC webpage https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com and also https://google.github.io/gsocguides/.

Each year "Open source projects apply to be mentor organizations. Once accepted, organizations discuss possible ideas with students and then decide on the proposals they wish to mentor for the summer. They provide mentors to help guide each student through the program". 2018, "212 organizations were accepted to participate in Google Summer of Code 2018!"
So you cannot really tell for 2019, meaning that you need to wait a bit until the GSOC team announces organizations for GSOC 2019 on the GSOC webpage. This year, you could probably see all organization on the 12th of February, have a look at https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations. The full time line: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/how-it-works/.

I applied for a Boost project and got accepted. In my case, I had already used and worked with some Boost libraries before I applied. I also knew the topic of the project proposal. That helped a lot to write the project proposal, to manage the programming competency test (in case of Boost), to be accepted and to finish my project. In case of Boost, most mentors want student with good math and very good C++ skills. See https://github.com/boostorg/boost/wiki/Boost-Google-Summer-of-Code-2018. You might also have a look at https://google.github.io/gsocguides/student/choosing-an-organization for a general description.

Best
Cem
