GSoC 2020 timeline has been updated - please note changes below

We have made some adjustments to the GSoC 2020 timeline based on adding some more flexibility into the schedule with the current disruptions for folks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Basically we have shifted the program so accepted students will now be announced on May 4th (a week later than the previous timeline). We have also extended the Community Bonding Period from 3 weeks to 4 weeks. This will allow more flexibility for the mentors and students to plan the summer and work around their schedules.

Student applications are all still due before March 31 at 18:00 UTC, that has not changed.

The dates below reflect the new 2020 timeline

Now - March 31 18:00 UTC: Students submit their final proposals and proof of enrollment

March 31 - May 4: Mentors review proposals and select students

May 4: Accepted GSoC 2020 students/projects are announced (this was previously April 27)

May 4 - 31: Community Bonding Period (this is now 4 weeks, instead of the original 3)

June 1: Coding begins

June 29 - July 3: First evaluation period - mentors evaluate students, students evaluate mentors

July 27 - 31: Second evaluation period - mentors evaluate students, students evaluate mentors

August 24 -31: Students wrap up their projects and submit final evaluation of their mentor

August 31 - September 7: Mentors submit final evaluations of students

September 8: Students passing GSoC 2020 are announced
