First of all congrats to GSoC team for getting record number of proposal this year( 6,685 student proposals)  .While submitting my proposal, I and some others found that format of proposal getting totally messed up, when copy pasting it from Google Docs. I found it difficult to resize the images in the Proposal Editor. The Edit box is also too small to write the whole proposal there and even difficult to edit and check the contents.
I would request that if it is not technically very difficult then please integrate the proposal form with Google Docs for next year and that would provide some more functionality to the editor.

If we did such a thing, I'd be tempted to require it be submitted in hand crafted LaTeX

Isn't it possible to link to your Google Doc through the box that allowed linking for more information on one's proposal?

For last year and this year application, I typed into Google Doc then I copy and paste the whole proposal into the proposal box and I do not really have much problem with it. As for writing the whole proposal inside the edit box is actually not a good idea because you are only allow to submit and you cannot save.

Having the possibility to save would really be great. As an org admin of this year, I know that we received many Updated Proposal messages, simply due to editing / formatting the proposal. So adding this functionality would also make org admin / mentors's lives easier!

Carsten

Apparently that would have been better. The wiki lacked flexibility and its quite hard to get the whole thing look good. Though, I would prefer a standard markdown over LaTex.
