Hi,

I want to know if I enroll myself in a distance learning course at IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), will I be eligible for participating as student in GSoC? Or does it have to be full time / part time course only where a student attends college personally for classes?

In distance learning, if I do MCA (Masters in Computer Applications) from IGNOU we are required to attend study centers once every semester (each semester lasts for 6 months) for lab exercises / practicals.

Thanks
Deep S

Hi,

Thanks for your response :)

I did go through FAQs but just wasn't able to get clarity on distance learning part.

Thanks again.

The FAQ doesn't specifically say if I'm eligible if I have no classes on
a Wednesday.

It doesn't say if I am eligible if I receive a student loan to offset my
tuition fees.

It doesn't say if I am eligible if I transferred from one university to
another earlier in my degree.

It doesn't say if I am eligible if I am eligible if I already know much
of what I'm studying.

There are no hidden rules. If you meet all the stated requirements and
none of the stated exclusions apply to you, then you are eligible.

I believe that Carol has answered this question on this list before. Summary if you are attending an accredited high education institution and they consider you to be a student ( willing to issue a official form stating that you are ) then you fulfill this criteria.
