Hello
I was thinking if there is anyway I could know which projects are participating in 2025 GSoC, so that I could prepare as early as possible. If not please let me know how I should start preparing to increase my chances of getting accepted.

Hello,

We have not announced a 2025 program yet. Accepted mentoring orgs are announced in mid-February.

You can look at orgs that are participating this year as many of those will participate in a future program. You can reach out to a couple of orgs and find the ones that interest you.

The list for GSoC 2025 is not out yet. However you can take a look at the projects from the previous years to get a feel for the theme.

Many companies or organizations that participated last year tend to return this year as well. By examining their past attendance records, you can identify which ones are likely to come back. If they’ve been consistent in previous years, there’s a good chance they’ll participate again.

Here’s a hack to get GSoC jobs and stand out:

This is open source —
1) Find a participating org from last year. Do not worry if they will participate again.
2) Find some bug to fix, patch to write or new feature to contribute.
3) Code it up and contribute it.
4) If their code keepers ask for changes, do them and resubmit.

A) I guarantee you high priority hire in their next summer of code.
B) If they don’t participate or don’t have room for you for some other reason, I guarantee having that contribution will make you a much more serious candidate for other orgs
C) Even if A or B doesn’t work out, I guarantee it will help out future job searches.
