I will apply Google summer of code 2016. I have question about the student proposal. The student proposal is about each applicant introduce own favoriate programming project? It's to introduce our code skills and how we complete the project? On the website, it posts "Your proposal should include the following: your project proposal, why you'd like to execute on this particular project, and the reason you're the best individual to do so. Your proposal should also include details of your academic, industry, and/or open source development experience, and other details as you see fit." Does it mean the proposal must include own knowledge and  experience in industry? Can my proposal also include source code for programming project? Such like "main() { printf ("hello world"); }"

Hello,

The student proposal is about each applicant introduce own favoriate programming project? It's to introduce our code skills and how we complete the project?

On the website, it posts "Your proposal should include the following: your project proposal, why you'd like to execute on this particular project, and the reason you're the best individual to do so. Your proposal should also include details of your academic, industry, and/or open source development experience, and other details as you see fit." You should follow the instructions given by each of the accepted organizations (they will be announced February 29th). Some organizations will want a history of your previous projects, others will have you fix some bugs in the code, etc. Be sure to follow the format the organization asks for in their instructions on the proposals page.

Each organization will have a list of project ideas they would like students to work on during the program. You can always propose an idea of your own but it should be based on something you think the organization needs/would want for their project.

Best,
Stephanie
