The 185 GSoC Mentoring Organizations that GSoC contributors will be able to work with have been
announced.
What you should do next if you want to be accepted into GSoC 2025:
1. All interested participants should be going to
g.co/gsoc now and looking through the list of organizations and finding 3-5 that they are interested in.
2. Review the Project Ideas list and until you find something interesting that you would be interested in working on.
3. Reach out to the Mentoring Organization via their Contributor guidance link instructions (on their GSoC org page at the bottom) or via their contact methods (on the right side of their GSoC org page if no Contributor guidance link is provided.
4. Ask the mentors more about the project, also talk to them about why you find it interesting.
Do this over the next few days if possible. Do not wait until March 24 when thousands of people will try to ask questions of the mentors and they will be very overwhelmed and likely not able to answer all/any of your questions.
Google Summer of Code is a program that requires planning and not waiting until the last minute at all steps of the program.
Note: Be very careful if you are planning to use AI to try and communicate with the organizations. Most of the time it is seen as spamming the organization and it is possible they won't respond to you. They want to hear from you, not an AI bot. If you are concerned about your English skills it's okay, English is not the primary language for the majority of mentors and participants. Use AI sparingly in your communications if you want the mentors to take you seriously.
From March 24 - April 8 1800 UTC you will be able to go to
g.co/gsoc and register yourself (if you are over 18 years old and meet the eligibility requirements), agree to the Program Rules and upload your Project Proposal. Ideally you will be working on your project proposal over these next couple of weeks and then can go in that last week of March or first couple of days of April and submit your proposal through the GSoC site.
Best,
