Hey there!
I just wanted to know if both 175 hours and 350 hours project have to be done within 12 weeks? Does it mean a 350 hour project gets more hours per week or it gets more weeks to be completed?  Is extension period meant for 350 hours projects or any project can get an extension?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The standard coding period is 12 weeks for all projects regardless of whether they are 175 hour or 350 hour projects. If a GSoC contributor wants a project to go on for a longer period of time they should discuss that with their mentor and it should be a part of your proposal so the mentor and org admin know you plan to extend the project. Some projects may not allow extension depending on availability of their mentors or may only allow projects to be extended up to 14 or 16 or 18 weeks for example. The maximum project length is 22 weeks but the mentor and org admin must agree on any extension over the 12 weeks. In most cases they will agree to it but it is always best to communicate that you need to extend the project now if you know that will be the case for you.
