So I'm having a heck of a time figuring out monitoring of Pubsub and hoping somebody here can shed some light. From what I can tell through Googling there's a metric for undelivered messages that I can track, monitor, and alert against. But as you can see in the attachment there's only so many exposed in the Google monitoring application and that metric doesn't seem to be one of them. Am i missing something? Do I need to track this in a different way?

Thanks guys!

Hi, Jon,

You seem to be looking at the topic metrics. The undelivered messages metric is defined for a Pub/Sub subscription, not for a Pub/Sub topic. Do you have a subscription defined on your topic? When I select the "Resource Type" in the "TARGET" tab to be "Cloud Pub/Sub Subscription", I see the "Undelivered Messages" metric (and many others) in the "If Metric" pulldown in the "CONFIGURATION" tab.

Hope this helps,

So that's probably the issue then... That option isn't available for me under the drop down. I dropped and recreated the subscription to see if that would prompt the addition of the option. Thank you for the info!

Jon,

To close the loop on this, mind letting us know if these steps worked for you?
FWIW, it usually takes a few minutes for Stackdriver to discover that you have a subscription and offer it in the target pulldown menu.
