Hi,

I have tried to install the agent on Ubuntu 16.04 but it does not work. Here is the output:

$ sudo bash stack-install.sh --write-gcm

Installing agents for Debian or Ubuntu.

The script generates a link similar to this (for 14.04):

curl https://repo.stackdriver.com/trusty.list

But the the 16.04 link below does simply does not exists:

curl https://repo.stackdriver.com/xenial.list

I tried to install the 14.04 version by editing the install script a bit manually but I get this error in the logs:

Are you guys planning to setup a repo and support 16.04 soon?

Sincerely, Robert

Hi again,

I don't want to be rude or anything, but if 16.04 support is weeks or months away I would very much appreciate to know that. I'm in the process to deploy a bigger project right now, we are moving some servers from FreeBSD to Linux primarily because of Stackdriver monitoring support. If 16.04 is far away, we might have to go for 14.04 instead. Therefore I would appreciate a reply even if you can't full support for 16.04 right away.

Sincerely, Robert

Hi Robert,

We're hoping to have support for 16.04 in a matter of weeks, not months.

I hope this helps. Stay tuned for more.

Best,
Matt

Hi Matthew, thanks for the update.

We are going with 14.04 for now, we also use Mongodb, and they also don't officially support 16.04 yet so it feels like the best decision to go with 14.04 for now.

Sincerely, Robert

Hi, Deepak,

As documented at http://cloud.google.com/monitoring/agent/, the monitoring agent only supports LTS releases of Ubuntu. Since Utopic is not an LTS release, there is no monitoring agent repository for it. You may be able to get either the Trusty or the Xenial version to work, but please be advised that you'd be in unsupported territory.

Thank you for using Stackdriver.
