I'm trying to get Windows logging agent to forward a log file to Stackdriver using the following config file:

<source>

@type tail

format none

path "C:\\test.log"

pos_file "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Stackdriver\\LoggingAgent\\Main\\pos\\qliklog.pos"

read_from_head true

tag qlik-log

</source>

However nothing is showing up. If I delete this file and restart the agent then I get the system logs just fine.

Am I missing a trick? Does anyone have a sample configuration file for windows to get the tail log forwarder to work?

Second cheeky question, would I be able to get the forwarder to work if the log file is sitting in the remote host, e.g path //wew1qfs5001.net/QVS_Log/*

What you have looks reasonable. There are a couple of things to check.
First, does the pos directory exist in the specified location? It only would have that path if you didn't override the default installation location.
Second, I vaguely recall that in_tail was not too happy with backslashes at some point. Want to try replacing the backslashes with forward slashes in your config?
Otherwise, are there any errors in the fluentd log? The latest Windows agent has it at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stackdriver\LoggingAgent\fluentd.log".
Hope this helps,
