Several of my sites recently starting receiving a lot of traffic from a useragent that identifies (in name and IP) as:

GoogleStackdriverMonitoring-UptimeChecks(https://cloud.google.com/monitoring

What kind of action can trigger this service? No one currently recalls signing up for anything that may have triggered this, so we're curious!

A couple sites started receiving this traffic about 4 weeks ago:
https://www.ihireutilities.com/
https://www.ihireaccounting.com/

Thanks in advance!

David,

An uptime check can be configured on any public URL. So any of our customers could have created uptime checks against those websites.
Is that traffic presenting problems for you, or are you just curious? If the former, you should be able to use the regular abuse prevention techniques (e.g., blocking the traffic).

The traffic isn't problematic--we're just curious why it started. We run 50-60 sites (separate domains,) and the traffic started on ~20 of those sites. Is there any way to find out who/what entity submitted the request(s)?

Google is serious about safeguarding customer privacy, so we would not be able to provide this information. If these aren't a bother, I'd just ignore them.
