Hello,

I am research student from India and working on Software Defined Radio. From Google Spectrum Database, we can gather information about the availability of TV white space channels
at specific location. I have question that if I want to use available unlicensed TV spectrum in my testbed, what are the steps need to be followed.
Can we access the spectrum immediately or some operation need to be followed before accessing it?

Thanks and regards,
Kunal Sankhe

Hi Kunal,

In order to actually use the unlicensed spectrum reported to operate a radio (in the US, since this is the only country we support), you'd need to work with the FCC to certify your device. Once the device is certified, you would then need to sign up for our commercial service with us (as mentioned at https://developers.google.com/spectrum/paws/overview).

I can't really give much more advice than that, since this forum is focused on how to issue requests to the database and process the results rather than radio operation.
