Using Google Site Verification API to confirm you own the domain

I don't see the an api underGoogle Apps Platform API to see confirm if a user owns a domain. Can I use the site verification API for that?

Yeah that's basically what I use it for, although it occasionally does quirky things

Do you know if I can use a reseller OAuth token to call the site verification API? Because I get a 401 status code response when I try that.
